相信看过《2001：太空奥德赛》的都还对HAL9000 被关机前的歌曲<daisy bell> 有印象：
Dave 在关闭HAL9000，此时HAL提出要给Dave唱歌。

之所以在这部电影中安排有HAL9000临终前演唱这段歌曲还有着一些历史渊源：
1962年，A.C.Clarke 到贝尔实验室参观时，听说了由物理学家John L.Kelly 在IBM704机器上编写程序使机器能够自动演唱歌曲。这首历史上由计算机演唱的第一首歌曲就是 <Daisy Bell> ，大多数人还知道它的另外的名字<Bisycle Build for Two> 或者<Daisy, Daisy>。当Clarke在与Kubrick合作拍摄<2001:太空奥德赛>的时候就让HAL临终前演唱了这首歌曲。
